Aanand L Rai-directed Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon in lead roles, has crossed another landmark at the box office by amassing over Rs 100 crore at the global box office, according to reports.
After opening with Rs 16.50 crore on November 28, the film saw massive footfall on its first weekend and crossed the Rs 50 crore mark. Over the last four days, the film has been earning consistently between Rs 5 to Rs 8 crore. On Tuesday, the film collected Rs 10.25 crore, becoming the highest-earning day this week. At the end of its first week in theatres, Tere Ishk Mein minted Rs 83.55 crore, which included a lion's share from the Hindi market (Rs 79.65 crore) and Rs 3.9 crore from Tamil. Along with its overseas revenue, the film has surpassed the Rs 100 crore milestone within its first week, a massive feat for Dhanush as it has become his highest-earning Hindi film and his first Rs 100 crore Bollywood film.
A spiritual sequel to Raanjhanaa, the film, set in Varanasi, stars Dhanush as Shankar, who develops a relationship with Mukti (Kriti) while she conducts her PhD research on him. After she ends the relationship and moves on, Shankar joins the Indian Air Force, and years later their unresolved past resurfaces when they meet again.
Upon release, the film was met with mixed review from fans and critics. Our CE review of the film by Kartik Bhardwaj read, "In Tere Ishk Mein, when Kriti Sanon’s Mukti first encounters Dhanush’s Shankar, he is chasing to hit another college student. When she tries to stop him, he takes her hand and brushes it against his cheek. Then, he proceeds to wink at her and she too can’t help but suppress a smile. It all plays out like it is a meet-cute. A harassment incident from life is handled like a romantic sequence on celluloid. The old villains have become the new heroes."
Tere Ishk Mein has also been receiving tremendous praise for its music by AR Rahman. The film marked the third collaboration between the Dhanush and Aanand, after Ranjhanaa (2013) and Atrangi Re (2021) and was produced by T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions.
The film will hit OTT platform Netflix after completing its theatrical run.
