Farhan Akhtar’s road-trip drama Jee Le Zaraa might just be happening. Featuring Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif, the project had been in limbo for quite some time and there was also speculation that it has been shelved. But now, director Farhan has confirmed that the film will start shoot soon.

As per a report in Filmfare, Farhan confirmed the development, admitting just how exhausting the process had been. “To be honest, it was traumatic trying to get the actors’ dates. But we’ve sorted all that out. We’ll start soon,” he said.

As per previous reports, the biggest challenge to get the ball rolling on the film was locking dates of the three leads, particularly Priyanka Chopra, whose global film and TV commitments repeatedly clashed with the production timeline.

But scheduling wasn’t the only issue. The Filmfare report also informed Farhan and co-writers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti were intent on casting three prominent male actors opposite the female trio — a creative choice that extended the search and slowed progress. Finding male co-stars who could match the stature of Priyanka, Katrina and Alia became a challenge in itself.

Adding to the delay were the major life changes the actresses experienced since the film’s announcement in 2021. All three actresses have become mothers since the announcement of the film. Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt have also gotten married since the 2021 announcements.

The film originally came together after Priyanka pitched the idea during a late-night call in 2019, envisioning a rare, all-female buddy road trip that celebrates friendship.
