Farhan Akhtar's latest war drama 120 Bahadur, which brings to life the bravery of 120 Indian soldiers from the 13 Kumaon Regiment, who fought the Sino-Indian war in 1962, has been declared tax-free in Delhi.
CM Rekha Gupta made the announcement, congratulating the makers for highlighting the leadership of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati (Played by Farhan Akhtar). Penning a note on her X handle, she wrote, "As a special mark of respect to the valiant soldiers, the Delhi Government has decided to grant tax-free status to the film in Delhi from 28th Nov. Congratulations to the creators of the film!"
The tax exemption is expected to boost the footfall, encouraging audiences and film lovers of all ages to witness the real-life incident that inspired the story.
120 Bahadur, directed by Razneesh Ghai, revolves around Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and his 120 bravehearts of the Charlie Company, the 13th Battalion of the Kumaon Regiment, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the motherland in the Battle of Rezang La, fought during the 1962 Sino-Indian war. Farhan plays the role of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC, the fearless leader who, along with his men, stood firm against overwhelming odds in one of the most heroic chapters of India’s military history. The film also stars Raashii Khanna plays his wife, Shagun Kanwar while Vivan Bhatena and Ankit Siwach appear in supporting roles.
The film released in theatres on November 21 and received mixed reviews from audiences and critics. Our CE review of the film read, "120 Bahadur is what Lakshya refused to reduce itself to. It’s so by the book that it feels like a manual on how to make war films. Watching it is like listening to a battle story from your grandfather who heard it from his ex-army friend. It seems generic and is told without any feeling or conviction. Like a second-hand experience."
The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan under Excel Entertainment, and Amit Chandrra under Trigger Happy Studios.
