Ever since the release of its trailer, Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra's upcoming film Param Sundari has been facing backlash online. Various people from Kerala have been calling out the stereotypical portrayal of Janhvi's Malayali character in the film. Meanwhile, the film faces reservations from an organisation called the Watchdog Foundation in relation to a romantic sequence at a church, reports Mid-Day. According to reports, the organisation asks for the deletion of the scene in a written request to the Censor Board, the Maharashtra state government, Mumbai Police, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In the letter, the organisation is also questioning the board as to how it allowed the scene to go uncut after the censorship procedures. The group also claims that it would publicly protest in the event that the filmmakers do not delete the said scene from Param Sundari.
The film from director Tushar Jalota and Maddock Films' producer Dinesh Vijan is slated for an August 29 release. A story of romance between a boy (Sidharth) from North India and a girl (Janhvi), Param Sundari marks Malayalam screenwriter-director-producer-actor Renji Panicker's debut in Hindi cinema. Recently, Renji Panicker made his Tamil debut with Rio Raj and Gopika Ramesh's Sweetheart!
The film also stars Manjot Singh, Siddhartha Shankar, Inayat Verma, and Sanjay Kapoor. Tushar Jalota has directed the film from a screenplay he has written alongside Aarsh Vora.
