On Friday, which marked the 39th anniversary of his film Karma, actor Anil Kapoor took to his Instagram Stories and shared a clip from the film, where he beats up Sharat Saxena’s goon character. “After 39 years of Karma, it’s time to shake the single screens — in style!” wrote Anil. The actor also tagged his Karma co-stars Anupam Kher and Jackie Shroff as well as director Subhash Ghai in the post.
In Karma, after a terrorist leader kills his family, a former police officer recruits three convicts to help him get revenge and destroy the terrorist's organisation. The film is considered a major commercial success, reportedly becoming the highest-grossing film in Indian cinema in 1986 and the eleventh highest-grossing Hindi film of the decade. The film marked Dilip Kumar’s first collaboration with Nutan. It reunited Subhash and Dilip after their successful collaboration on the 1982 film Vidhaata. The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, the late Sridevi, and Poonam Dhillon.
Subhash Ghai is widely recognised as a major force in the careers of both Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff. The filmmaker introduced Jackie as a leading actor in his 1983 film Hero. He also played a key role in establishing Anil Kapoor's rising career with the 1985 legal drama Meri Jung. The three have collaborated on multiple films, including Karma and Ram Lakhan.
