Deepika Padukone has joined Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming actioner King, as per a report in Pinkvilla. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Suhana Khan and Abhay Verma in pivotal roles. Reportedly, it is set to start shooting from May 18.

The publication quoted a source saying that Shah Rukh wanted Deepika in the film from the get-go; however, there were date issues as Deepika was taking time-off to be with her newborn baby.

“After all the discussions, and setting the shoot timelines, everything has aligned well to have Deepika Padukone on board the film. She will be shooting for her role in the second half of 2025. It's a full-length role, and a lot more than just a cameo as reported before. Sid and his team of writers have crafted a perfect role for Deepika, that also stands true to the hype of her pairing with SRK,” the source told the publication.

The film is set to be released in the last quarter of 2026. It features music by Sachin-Jigar while Anirudh has joined to create the background score.

Deepika has worked with Shah Rukh on films like Om Shanti Om (2007), Chennai Express (2013), Happy New Year (2014) and more recently in Pathaan (2023). She also had a cameo in Jawan. She was last seen in Kalki 2898 AD.
