Actors Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan had a rift after their 1993 film Darr and they didn’t speak to each other for a while but now Sunny has expressed a desire to work with the superstar.

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, when asked with whom he would like to do a two-hero film, Sunny said “Shah Rukh ke saath ek hi film ki thi. Toh ek aur kar sakte hain (I did only one film with Shah Rukh. So, we can do another). It would be nice because that was a different period, and now it’s a different period, so definitely,” he said.

The actor went on to say that there needs to be directorial control in order to make films which justify the images of the actors. “Pehle humare directors had control over the whole thing. Aaj kal humare directors ke paas itna control nahi hai aur kahaniyaan waisi ban bhi nahi rahi hain, which will justify the images of the actors. Woh bahut zaruri hai (Earlier, our directors had control over the whole thing. Today our directors don't have that much control, and the stories are not being made in a way that would justify the images of the actors. That is very important),” he said.

On the sets of Yash Chopra’s 1993 film Darr, Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol were reportedly involved in a falling out, as Deol felt that Khan’s villainous character was being portrayed more favorably than his own. Sunny was reportedly not happy with the climax where his character Sunil, a Navy officer, gets stabbed and overpowered by the stalker Rahul, played by SRK. He thought it was illogical and even tried to explain this to director Chopra. Sunny was visibly upset during the shoot of the climax that he tore his pants pockets in frustration during a heated argument with Chopra on set. After the film, Sunny stopped working with YRF for decades and didn’t speak to Shah Rukh for about 16 years.
