A man and a woman have been arrested for threatening actor Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan using dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s name. However, according to a report in mid-day, the couple later told the police that it was a prank.
The incident took place in Mumbai’s Bandra area on Thursday morning when the veteran screenwriter was on his regular morning walk.
According to the police, the two accused were on a two-wheeler when they spotted Khan walking on the promenade. Getting close to him, one of them said, “Shall I send Lawrence Bishnoi?” and fled the scene. A complaint was filed at the police station after which they started investigating and found details of the couple through a CCTV footage.
Mumbai Police’s Zone 9 DCP Rajtilak Roushan told mid-day, "We didn’t find any evidence linking the accused to the Bishnoi gang. They committed the crime purely for mischief and fun before escaping. The accused have made an admission to the effect."
The couple has been arrested under relevant sections of the law.
The incident comes months after a firing incident which occurred at Salman’s residence, allegedly ordered by the gangster Lawrence, who has previously threatened to kill the actor. On April 14, two men on a motorcycle had fired five bullet rounds outside the actor’s apartment in Bandra. Six people were arrested in that case.
