Earlier, it was announced that Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan would be part of the sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997’s iconic war-drama Border. Now, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has been added to the cast of Border 2.
The makers announced it on Friday, and Diljit also took to Instagram today to share a video for it. “Pehli Goli Dushman Chalaega aur Akhri Goli Hum (First bullet will be fired by the enemies, last by us) Honoured to stand with such a powerful team and walk in the footsteps of our Soldiers! Border 2”
Sunny and Varun also made the announcement via their Instagram handles. “Welcoming Fauji Diljit Dosanjh to the Battalion of Border 2,” they captioned the post.
Border 2 will be helmed by Kesari (2019) director Anurag Singh.
The original Border, set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, was based on the famous Battle of Longewala. It featured an ensemble of actors like Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, and Akshaye Khanna, among others. It was the highest grossing film of 1997. The sequel will also look into the 1971 war. According to reports, it is set to go on floors this October.
Border 2 will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, the original film’s director JP Dutta and his daughter Nidhi Dutta. It is scheduled to release on January 23, 2026.
