Superboys of Malegaon, directed by Reema Kagti and starring Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora in lead roles, is set to be screened at the 68th BFI London Film Festival which will take place from October 9 to 20. The movie will be showcased at the festival on October 10 at the Vue West End and on October 12 at the historic Curzon Soho cinema.
Written by Varun Grover, the film is an Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby production and is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti.
As per a press release shared by the makers, “Superboys of Malegaon is a film based on the life of Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker from the town of Malegaon. The residents of the town look to Bollywood cinema for a much-needed escape from daily drudgery. Nasir gets inspired to make a film for the people of Malegaon, by the people of Malegaon. He bands together his ragtag group of friends to bring his vision to life, thereby bringing a fresh lease of life into the town.”
The film is also stated to have its world premiere at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival at its Gala event on September 13.
