Zeeshan Siddique, son of slain Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra state minister Baba Siddique, recently spoke about how actor Salman Khan has been having sleepless nights since the shooting and how he has been checking up on their family.
On October 12, Baba Siddique was gunned down by three assailants in Bandra East. The killing, as per reports, was ordered by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Although the motive behind the murder hasn’t been established, the Bishnoi gang has claimed that Baba was shot owing to his closeness to Salman. The Bishnois are miffed with the actor over a 1998 incident when he poached a black buck, an animal sacred to their community.
“Salman bhai has been very upset after the incident. Pitaji (dad) and Salman bhai were close like real brothers. After dad’s death, bhai has supported us a lot. He always checks in on me and at night, talks to me about being unable to sleep. His support is always there and will continue the same,” he said during a chat with BBC Hindi.
Baba’s murder happened six months after Bishnoi gang members fired shots at Salman’s home in Mumbai. Known for hosting extravagant iftar parties that made him a favourite among Bollywood celebrities, Baba famously mediated the reconciliation between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in 2013.
