Anurag Kashyap has joined Nepalese director Deepak Rauniyar’s Pooja, Sir as an executive producer, as per a report in Variety. The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year. The film will be screened at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024, competing in the South Asia Competition section.

The film is inspired by real events during the 2015 protests that erupted in Southern Nepal, where two boys go missing and a police inspector is called from Kathmandu to take over the investigation. She takes the help of a local cop and battles several pressures amid the political turmoil in order to solve the case.

It stars Asha Magrati, Nikita Chandak, Dayahang Rai, Reecha Sharma, Bijay Baral, Gaumaya Gurung, Aarti Mandal, Ghanashyam Mishra, Prameshwar Kumar Jha, Pashupati Rai and Niraj Shrestha. It is produced by Deepak, Asha, Ram Babu Gurung and Alan R. Milligan.

The film will be released in Nepal on March 1, 2025.
