Ranbir Kapoor revealed recently that when he first met Alia Bhatt, she didn’t know who Kishore Kumar was. The actor was speaking at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024 in Goa, reflecting on the legacy of his grandfather Raj Kapoor and others from the generation.

In the interaction with filmmaker Rahul Rawail, which was organised in honour of Raj Kapoor ahead of his 100th birth anniversary, Ranbir was speaking about how important it's to remember the legends in all times. “The first time I met Alia, she asked me, ‘Who’s Kishore Kumar?'”, he said, inviting shocking reactions from the audience. He added, “So, you know, it’s just the circle of life. You know, it’s like people have forgotten and then new artists have come. So, I think it’s very important that, you know, we remember our roots.”

Alia has bore the brunt of online trolling for her general knowledge earlier as well when she appeared on Koffee With Karan in 2013. During the show, she made a mistake in naming the then president of the country, a clip which instantly went viral.

Along with that, Ranbir and Alia’s relationship has been a topic of discussion online due to remarks made by the two about each other. In an interview with Vogue, Alia had shared how she wipes off her lipstick and keeps it minimal as Ranbir doesn’t like it. This again led to raging debates online on the dynamics of their relationship.
