Sanjay Leela Bhansali is ready to begin the shooting of Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, as per reports.
As per a source cited by mid-day, from November 7, Film City’s Studio 5 will resemble the historic world that has come to be synonymous with Bhansali’s films. A source tells mid-day, “A crowd of 50 extras is required for the opening sequence. They will play sepoys [soldiers] in the scene. A lot of attention is being paid to each detail to ensure the period is appropriately reflected.”
As per the report only Ranbir is expected to shoot the initial scenes. “Vicky will be joining the shoot next week, but Alia kicks off her sections only in December,” added the source.
Earlier speaking about the film Bhansali had said, “It’s a film that I am very excited about. It’s a very special film. It is not set in a particular period. There are no pillars, no costumes, no more horses. It’s a contemporary film and it’s different. The music is different, I am enjoying doing it. I have got wonderful actors. It’s a difficult film for me, so I’ll take a little time to make it properly, carefully.”
Love & War was announced earlier this year in January. It was scheduled to be released on Christmas 2025, but was pushed further to March 20, 2026.
