Diljit Dosanjh took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a behind-the-scenes video from his upcoming biopic Amar Singh Chamkila. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film also stars Parineeti Chopra and Kumud Mishra in pivotal roles. Diljit plays the role of Amar Singh and Parineeti essays the role of his wife, Amarjot in the film.

In the video, Diljit is preparing to give a shot and right as he gets into the scene, he starts singing the song, ‘Mirza’ passionately. It is his rendition of the song of Chamkila. To bring the vibrancy of the old school Punjabi Akhadas (live stage performances in rural villages) on screen, all the songs of Chamkila have been sung live by Diljit and Parineeti in Punjabi while shooting. Diljit also learnt to play the folk instrument Tumbi which was one of the highlights of Chamkila’s on-stage presence.

The film’s music is composed by A.R. Rahman. It is produced by Mohit Choudhary, Select Media Holdings LLP, Saregama, and Window Seat Films and will be released on Netflix on April 12.
