Tripti Dimri opens up on facing flak for her character in Animal

CE Features

Few recent films in Hindi cinema earned as polarising a response as Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal did. A section of the audience who disliked Animal also did not spare actor Tripti Drimri, who played a small yet much-noticed role in the film. The audience, especially, disliked a couple of scenes involving Tripti and Ranbir, including one where the male star asks her character to clean his footwear.

Tripti opened up about her honeytrap role in Animal in her recent interview with the magazine Vogue India, where she is the cover star for the March-April issue. Speaking about the character, she said, "If we start making decisions based on what audiences are going to say, then as actors, we won’t ever be able to do what we want to do. I want to choose roles that push me out of my comfort zone. There’s a lot of advice on offer and I listen to it all, but it comes down to instinct. I might make mistakes along the way, but I’m allowed to (sic)."

Sandeep followed up Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh with Animal. Also starring Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor, Animal tells the story of an alpha male who avenges the people who hurt his father and seeks the old man's validation.

Tripti's next film in the pipeline is Anand Tiwar's Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam, alongside Vicky Kaushal.
