Kamal Haasan opened up about being a film technician on Amitabh Bachchan’s Sholay (1975) and how he had to wait for over three weeks to watch the film in theatres. The two veteran actors were present in Mumbai on Wednesday at the promotional event for their upcoming film, Kalki 2898 AD, which was also attended by Prabhas and Deepika Padukone.

At the event, the film’s producer, Aswani Dutt, gifted the first day, first show ticket of Kalki 2898 AD to Amitabh Bachchan, who in turn handed it over to Kamal Haasan, calling him his ‘brother and friend’.

Kamal shared an anecdote from Sholay after this and said, “I wish this had happened four to five decades ago as I waited for three weeks to watch Sholay. I hope there are many more fans who must be waiting for weeks to see the film like I did for Sholay. I never thought I will get the first day first show ticket from Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. I was a film technician and now I am an actor, and nothing much has changed.”

Sharing his experience of working in the film, Kamal said that he plays a ‘sage with bad thoughts’ and wishes to essay a completely negative character some day. He has a special appearance in the film.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is scheduled to hit the screens on June 27.
