It’s refreshing to see Neeraj Pandey, the director of fast-paced, espionage thrillers like Baby (2015) and Aiyaary (2018), come up with a mushy romantic-drama. The trailer of Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha was unveiled on Thursday. The film also features Jimmy Sheirgill, Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee M Manjrekar in pivotal roles.

The trailer tells the love story of Ajay and Tabu’s characters, spanning across decades. We see Ajay as an imprisoned man who committed two murders years ago. The date of his release is nearing but he is unwilling to leave as he feels he is “unfit for the world.” He still gets out and meets Tabu, whom he hasn’t forgotten all this while. She, however, is now married to Jimmy Sheirgill. The trailer suggests that Ajay committed the murders all those years ago probably to safeguard Tabu. Shantanu and Saiee play the young versions of Ajay and Tabu’s characters.

The film will be Neeraj's first theatrical directorial since Aiyaary (2018). The director since then has been working on web series like Special Ops, Khakee: The Bihar Chapter and The Freelancer.

This will be Ajay’s tenth collaboration with Tabu. The actors have previously worked together in blockbusters like the Drishyam series and recently Bholaa.

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is scheduled to release in theatres on July 4.
