The teaser of the third season of the popular crime-drama series Mirzapur, along with its release date, was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday. Season 3 of the series, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and Anand Iyer, will start streaming on Prime Video from July 5. The new season will have ten episodes.

The teaser opens with an Animal Planet style documentary, showing a lion and a lioness fighting. Kulbhushan Kharbanda’s voiceover ensues. “When a powerful male lion and a quick lioness start fighting, the whole forest gets a shake-up.” As the voiceover compares Mirzapur to a ruthless jungle, we get glimpses of all the characters and where they stand.

Mirzapur boasts a stellar ensemble cast of Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Rasika Dugal and Vijay Varma. It also features Isha Talwar, Anjumm Shharma, Priyanshu Painyuli, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Rajesh Tailang, Sheebha Chadha, Meghna Malik and Manu Rishi Chadha, among others.

The second season (spoiler alert) ends on the beloved Munna bhaiyya (Divyenndu) being shot to death by Ali Fazal’s Guddu. Pankaj’s Kaleen bhaiyya, however, makes a narrow escape. In the episodes climax, Guddu takes over the coveted chair of Mirzapur and becomes the new ‘baahubali’ (strongman) of the area.
