There is constant criticism against Akshay Kumar for doing too many films a year. After a string of flops, his critics have often suggested that he should be more selective in his choices. The actor, however, in a recent interview, dismissed this viewpoint and said that he goes by the piece of advice given to him by Amitabh Bachchan, who had told him to keep working no matter what.

In a conversation with Galatta Plus, Akshay said, “I’ve seen people who work selectively, and their films flop as well. In our industry, what happens is that people stop offering you work if you deliver flops. Look at Mr Bachchan. He was the one who told me, ‘Akshay, kaam karte rehna beta. Kaam ko mat chhorna (Akshay, don’t turn down work). I learned this from him… Calculation is wrong, manipulation is wrong. Honesty is right, creativity is right. Believing in your luck is right. This is what I’ve learned.”

Akshay has delivered a bunch of flops in the past including Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Samrat Prithviraj, Selfiee, and Bachchhan Paandey. His recent release is the Sudha Kongara directorial Sarfira.
