Letterboxd’s top-rated feature films: Laapataa Ladies at 5; Malayalam cinema leads in contributions

Online social cataloguing platform Letterboxd recently revealed a list of its 25 highest-rated feature films. A significant number of Indian films made it to the list, with the Malayalam film industry leading the contributions.

Director Kiran Rao’s folky-feminist tale Laapataa Ladies made it to the Top 5 and ranked fifth on the list. Malayalam survival-thriller Manjummel Boys, written and directed by Chidambaram, came at number 7, and the suspense chamber-drama Aattam anked at 10. Rahul Sadasivan’s folk-horror Bramayugam was at 15 and Fahadh Faasil’s comedy Aavesham followed it at 16. Another Hindi film, the Imtiaz Ali-directorial biopic Amar Singh Chamkila ranked at 20. It was followed by Girish A.D.’s Premalu.

Dev Patel’s action-thriller Monkey Man also made it to the list at number 19. The highest-rated film on the list is the Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya starrer sci-fi epic Dune: Part 2. Luca Guadagnino’s sports-drama Challengers comes at 4.
