Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s debut production, Girls Will Be Girls will be screened in the ‘Festival Favourites’ section at South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW), the makers announced on Wednesday. The film is written and directed by Suchi Talati and stars Kani Kusruti, Jitin Gulati, Preeti Panigrahi, and Kesav Binoy Kiron in pivotal roles.

Earlier, the film had its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival where it won the Audience Choice Award for Best Film and a Special Jury Award for lead actor Preeti Panigrahi. It tells the story of a 16-year-old girl navigating the challenges of adolescence within the confines of a boarding school.

Speaking of it, Richa and Ali said in a press release, “We are elated and honoured to have our debut production, Girls Will Be Girls, selected for the prestigious SXSW Film Festival. This journey from concept to screen has been immensely rewarding, and the film's recognition at Sundance only fuelled our excitement.”

The film is a joint venture of Richa and Ali's production house Pushing Buttons Studios along with Blink Digital, Crawling Angel Films and Dolce Vita Films. SXSW will be held in Austin, Texas, from March 8 to 17.
