Ram Gopal Varma’s gangster drama Satya will be re-released in theatres on January 17, 2025, as per a report in Bollywood Hungama. The film, starring J.D. Chakravarthy, Manoj Bajpayee, Saurabh Shukla, Urmila Matondkar and Aditya Srivastava, was originally released in 1998.

A source told the publication, “The idea is that those who saw the film 26 years ago would be more than happy to watch it again and also, the young generation, who never experienced the magic of Satya on the big screen, will get a golden chance to do so.”

The source added, “The prints have been remastered. Bharat Shah, who presented the film, is also involved with the re-release process. Vinay Choksi's VIP Enterprises has come on board to be the re-release distributor.”

Satya is considered to be a benchmark in gangster films and is known to have broken filmmaking rules to tell the gritty story of Mumbai’s underworld. It is written by Anurag Kashyap and Saurabh Shukla and gave Manoj his first breakout role as Bhiku Mhatre.

The film features music by Vishal Bhardwaj and lyrics by Gulzar, consisting of some memorable songs like ‘Sapno Me Milti Hai’ and ‘Goli Maar Bheje Mein’.
