New shows for Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light were added in Mumbai, Delhi and Bhubaneshwar, the filmmaker announced on X on Thursday. The Cannes Grand-prix winning film released in theatres on November 22 but was not able to retain shows after two weeks of its release.

Sharing screenshots of Book My Show app, Payal urged people in these cities to watch the film. Writing about the new shows in Mumbai, she said, “Back in Mumbai for this weekend. Don’t know how long it will last so book tickets today!” Calling the release in Bhubaneshwar an “achievement”, Payal wrote, “And our greatest achievement- Bhubaneshwar. Now pls fill up those seats or it’ll be done in three days! (Tag everyone)”

Earlier, director Vikramaditya Motwane had expressed his anguish over the film not getting any shows after the release of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule. Taking to his Instagram stories, Vikramaditya referred to Payal's film being nominated for two Golden Globes this year and wrote, “And yet, Payal’s incredible success will mean nothing to us because we will throw her film out, not let it breathe or find an audience, and we will have 36 shows of one film in a single multiplex. Congratulations. We deserve this.”

Payal became the first Indian woman filmmaker to be nominated in the Best Director category for the Golden Globes. Before her only acclaimed director Shekhar Kapoor had bagged the nomination for his film Elizabeth in 1998. Apart from the Cannes win, All We Imagine As Light has also bagged the Best International Film award at the New York Film Critics Circle and the Gotham Awards. It was also named as the year’s best film by the prestigious film magazine Sight and Sound.
