Vikram-Pa Ranjith's Thangalaan has been creating a healthy discussion since it was released on August 15 and has also been making considerable inroads in the box office.
The film that traces the toil and sacrifice of Tamil Nadu's oppressed community in the discovery of Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) will be released in Hindi too. The makers have announced that the Hindi version will be screened across northern India on August 30.
CE review of the film reads, "It's a mark of the thought—and the craft—that Ranjith puts into these films that even though I didn’t resonate as well with Thangalaan as I have with other films of his, I still think it would be a disservice to dismiss this work. It would mean a refusal to acknowledge some striking moments—like that final fight scene that seems to happen across day and night, that seems to stretch across time."
Directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan also stars Malavika Mohanan and Parvathy Thiruvothu in prominent roles. The film's cast also includes Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and Hari Krishnan. Thangalaan is a historical adventure that narrates the role of oppressed communities in the exploration of gold in the south of India.
On the technical team, the film has cinematography by A Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK. Tamil Prabha is the film's co-writer. Neelam Productions is backing Thangalaan, along with Studio Green.
