Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 has crossed Rs 250 crore (India Net) at the box-office, as per Sacnilk.com. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the horror-comedy also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee in pivotal roles.

The film had an opening of Rs 51.8 crore on August 15, despite clashing with Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa. Since then, it has continued to maintain a strong hold over the theatres earning Rs 31.4 crore on Day 2, Rs 43.85 crore on Day 3 and Rs 55.9 crore on Day 4. The collections had a drop on Monday making over Rs 38.1 crore and Rs 25.8 crore on Tuesday. Its total collection stands at Rs 255.35 crore.

Stree 2 has become the biggest Hindi opener of 2024, surpassing the first day collections of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s Fighter which minted Rs 24.6 crore on Day 1. Kalki 2898AD, which released across multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, however, still remains the biggest Indian opener of 2024 at Rs 95 crore.

In terms of the opening day collections of other Independence Day releases, John Abraham and Sharvari’s Vedaa, which also released in Tamil and Telugu, could only reap Rs 6.52 crore, and Akshay Kumar-starrer Khel Khel Mein minted only Rs 5 crore.

Stree 2, produced by Dinesh Vijan, is part of Maddock Productions’ Supernatural Universe which includes films like Stree (2018), Bhediya (2022) and Munjya (2024). Munjya, despite having no big stars, managed to become the third highest grosser of the year at Rs 107.48 crore, just behind Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan (Rs 149.49 crore) and Fighter (Rs 199.45 crore).
