ZEE5 announced through an Instagram post that its latest show Murshid, starring Kay Kay Menon and Tanuj Virwani, among others, will release on the platform on August 30. Sharing a poster with the said actors, ZEE5 captioned the post, "Yeh Bombay hai meri jaan, aur yahan Sartaj-e-Bambai urf Murshid Bhai ka sikka chalta hai!" The caption contains a reference to Mohammed Rafi's song 'Aye Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahan' from the Dev Anand starrer CID. The song comes in the 2008 Irrfan Khan film Mumbai Meri Jaan, which also stars Kay Kay Menon.

The makers are yet to disclose further details about the plot of the show. However, from the announcement content, Murshid seems like a drama that explores the world of criminals and cops in Mumbai, with Kay Kay Menon playing the titular role of a gangster.

Murshid also stars Zakir Hussain, Anang Desai, Rajesh Shringarpure, and Vedika Bhandari.

It is Kay Kay Menon's second series release in succession. The other recent release is JioCinema's Shekhar Home, where the actor plays a detective with Ranvir Shorey.

He has Citadel: Honey Bunny in the pipeline.
