The teaser of Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming period-actioner Chhava was a surprise package for moviegoers as they sat down for a show of Stree 2. The first look of the Laxman Utekar directorial was screened before the horror-comedy’s first show commenced on the night of August 14.

The teaser gave a glimpse of Vicky in the role of the fierce ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha kingdom. Vicky is seen in long-hair and a flowy beard, overpowering a sea of soldiers as they try to enter his fort. The brief video ends with Vicky royally sitting on the throne.

Chhava is reportedly a periodic drama based on the life of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and is produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna in the role of Sambhaji’s wife Yesubai.

The film marks the second collaboration for Vicky and Laxman, who have previously worked together on the family comedy Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023). Rashmika’s upcoming films include Pushpa: The Rule and The Girlfriend.
