Vikrant Massey: When 12th Fail made the silver jubilee run, it felt like a re-release

The film, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, released in theatres on October 27 last year and had its OTT premiere on December 29

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail has been in theatres for over 25 weeks now. This is coming at a time when the film has had its OTT release. Starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr in lead roles, the film is based on the real-life story and struggles of IPS officer Manoj Sharma.

Reflecting on the film’s achievement, Vikrant said, “Right from childhood, I used to read the stories of films completing Silver Jubilees. Now when 12th Fail made the silver jubilee run, it felt like a re-release.”

"And also, the film is still screening in cinemas as well as on the OTT platform. It feels surreal. For every actor, this is the biggest achievement,” he added.

12th Fail released in theatres on October 27 last year, and it achieved resounding critical acclaim and a box-office business of Rs 66.55 crore. It was subsequently released on Disney+ Hotstar on December 29.
