The release date of Vikrant Massey’s The Sabarmati Report has been pushed to August 2, the makers announced on Monday. It was earlier set to release on May 3 but as Balaji Motion Pictures, submitted the film for censor certification, they were told to release it after the ongoing Lok Sabha elections as they could face problems due to Model Code of Conduct.

Directed by Ranjan Chandel (Bamfaad, 2020; Grahan, 2021), the film also stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles.

The makers released a poster to make the announcement. It is designed as a newspaper report. In the caption, the makers wrote, “Re-opening files of The Sabarmati Report, in cinemas on 2nd August!”

Earlier, the teaser for the film was unveiled, showing Massey and Dogra as two journalists who are investigating the 2002 incident in Gujarat where a mob allegedly set fire to several bogies of the Sabarmati Express in Godhra.

The Sabarmati Report is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan.
