Director Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light is set to premiere at Cannes Film Festival this year. It will compete for the prestigious Palm d’Or Award at the festival with other films like Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis and Kinds of Kindness by Yorgos Lanthimos.

The film is a co-production between India and France and tells the story of Prabha and Anu, two nurses from Kerala who work in Mumbai. Troubles increase for Prabha when she receives an unexpected gift from her husband. Meanwhile, Anu searches for a place to get intimate with her lover.

Payal Kapadia studied direction at the Film and Television Institute of India, and her 2021 documentary film A Night of Knowing Nothing won the Golden Eye award at the Cannes Film Festival that year.
