Actor Akshay Kumar released the trailer for his upcoming film Mission Raniganj directed by Tinu Suresh Desai.
Sharing the 2.12-minute-long trailer, Akshay Kumar wrote, "Sardar Jaswant Singh Gill ji, eh trailer twahdi yaad vich twahdi bahaduri nu samarpit hai. In your memory, saluting your courage. Rab rakha." The trailer showcases the effort and rescue mission of 65 miners by Jaswant Singh Gill, a rescue-trained officer. As time passes by and, Jaswant Singh informs officers that there are only 48 hours to save them. He then makes an attempt to go inside to save them.
Mission Raniganj is based on the life of engineer Jaswant Singh Gill who, in 1989, saved the lives of 65 miners stuck in Mahabir colliery in West Bengal’s Raniganj. Gill devised a special steel capsule using which the miners were rescued. He was awarded with the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak for his bravery by the then President of India, Ramaswamy Venkataraman, in 1991.
Apart from Akshay, the film also stars Parineeti Chopra, Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Dibyendu Bhattacharya Mukesh Bhatt, Akshay Verma, Ishtiyak Khan, Dinesh Lamba and Virendra Saxena.
