Chak De! India actor Rio Kapadia passes away

He was reportedly suffering from cancer

Actor Rio Kapadia, who was recently seen in season 2 of Made in Heaven in the role of Mrunal Thakur’s character’s father, passed away on Thursday. He was 66. As per reports, he was suffering from cancer.

A close friend of Kapadia issued an official statement which read, "Dear friends, with great regret I wish to inform you guys that our dear friend Rio Kapadia passed away at 12:30 p.m. today."

The actor’s last rites will be held on Friday, in Mumbai’s Goregaon.

Rio Kapadia played the role of a commentator in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Chak De! India (2007). He also acted in films like Happy New Year (2014), Dil Chahta Hai (2001) and Mardaani (2014).

He had also acted in TV shows like Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Siddharth Tewary's Mahabharat and others like Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kkusum: Ek Aam Ladki Ki Kahaani.
