The trailer of Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War was unveiled on Tuesday. The film depicts the trials and tribulations of the country’s scientists as they strive to create an indigenous Covid-19 vaccine. The Vaccine War stars Pallavi Joshi, Sapthami Gowda, Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher and Raima Sen.

The trailer shows Nana Patekar as the head of a team of scientists tasked with making a Covid-19 vaccine. We see visuals of scientists in PPE kits experimenting on monkeys and rats. Raima Sen plays, what seems like, a newspaper editor, spreading a “narrative” that India doesn’t have the resources to produce a vaccine. Patekar asks his scientists to focus only on the development of the vaccine like Arjuna in Mahabharata zoomed into only the eye of the fish. “This is a war and we are all soldiers,” he tells his team. “And I am your general.” It seems like Anupam Kher is playing the role of the PM in the film.

Agnihotri’s film The Kashmir Files recently won the National Award for being ‘The Best Feature Film on National Integration.’ The Vaccine War is slated to release on September 28.
