Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s directorial 12th Fail, starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar, will be hitting theatres this week.

Talking about the film at a promotional event, Vidhu said that he spent three years writing the film and another four and a half years making it.

“I was 66 years old, and now I am 71 years old, so imagine how many years it has taken to make the movie. It took so many years because that film is the story of yours, mine, and everyone's lives,” he said.

Based on Anurag Pathak's novel about the journey of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS officer Shraddha Joshi, 12th Fail is also inspired by millions of true stories of students attempting the world's toughest competitive exam - UPSC.

The film marks the return of Vidhu to the director's chair after 2020's Shikara12th Fail will be released worldwide on October 27 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
