A mansion, a missing person, a mystery, a murder? The trailer of Sara Ali Khan, Vikrant Massey and Chitrangda Singh-starrer Gaslight was released on Tuesday. Directed by Pavan Kripalani (Darr@ The Mall. 2014, Phobia, 2016), the film tells the story of Misha, a paraplegic woman, who returns to her family’s estate after 15 years at the request of her father, only to realise he has gone missing.

The trailer shows Chitrangda Singh as Rukmini, the wife of Misha’s father, the ‘Raja sahab’. Vikrant Massey plays Kapil, the mansion’s caretaker who is considered Raja sahab’s right-hand man. As Misha tries to uncover the truth behind his father’s disappearance, the story touches on the supernatural. She sees Raja sahab roaming around the palace at night, but is it him? A car is fished out of a lake, containing a body, but is it her father? Has he been murdered? Rahul Dev plays the cop assigned to solve the case.

Talking about the film, Sara Ali Khan, said, “Gaslight is a classic whodunit- set in an eerie yet beautiful palatial estate. It revolves around the character of Misha who's trying to find the truth behind her father's absence. During her endeavour, she comes across a lot of strange and terrifying instances, and the story then becomes about how she navigates her way through this unknown terrain. It was challenging to get into this role both mentally and physically as she's a very layered and nuanced character.”

Vikrant Massey said, "It's been an incredible journey while shooting for Gaslight, the film is a murder mystery with the unravelling of truths of each character which makes it more interesting.”

Actor Chitrangda Singh said she has always been fascinated by thrillers and Gaslight gave her the opportunity to “explore” and enabled her to mould herself into a character like never before.

Produced by Ramesh Taurani, Tips Films Ltd. and Akshai Puri, 12th Street Entertainment and directed by Pavan Kirpalani, the film, which also stars Akshay Oberoi, will drop on Disney+ Hotstar on March 31.
