Actor-director Ajay Devgn, at the trailer launch of his upcoming actioner Bholaa, spoke about doing an action stunt with Amitabh Bachchan during the shoot of the 1998 film Major Saab.
It was reported this morning that Bachchan had suffered an injury on his rib cage on the sets of Project K in Hyderabad. When asked about the precautions required on a film set while shooting for an action scene, in light of Bachchan’s injury, Ajay said, "Mr Bachchan, earlier when he used to do action, there were no mattresses, no safety measures or cables. He has done shots that one can't even imagine."
Telling an anecdote of him shooting an action scene with Bachchan on sets of Major Saab, Ajay said, “I remember him getting injured while shooting for Major Saab also. He had suggested that we should jump from 30 feet for a sequence, and I had told him to let’s get the shot done by duplicates since it was very difficult. But he insisted, and we did it. He suffered an injury then, also. I guess it’s his enthusiasm."
Ajay further said that doing stunts now is much easier because of all the safety measures being taken.
"But now I would say things are much easier. It's done with a lot of safety precautions. There are ambulances on set, doctors, paddings etc. It has become relatively easier. While we are ageing, things are getting easier."
Bholaa will be released in theatres on March 30. Apart from Ajay, it also stars Tabu, Deepak Dobriyal, Vineet Kumar, Sanjay Mishra and Gajraj Rao.
