Shekhar Kapur's Masoom to get sequel

Masoom released in 1983, marking the director's debut

Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur is planning a sequel to his directorial debut and Hindi film Masoom which released in 1983.

As per a Variety report, the sequel is titled Masoom… The New Generation. However, details on the plot and cast are kept under wraps. The 1983 film served as an adaptation of the 1980 novel by Erick Segal, titled Man, Woman and Child.

The novel revolved around a happy married couple with two daughters. However, their lives take a sour turn after the husband's son from previous marriage turn up. The film starred Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Supriya Pathak, Urmila Matondkar, among others. The film had music by RD Burman, and screenplay, dialogues and lyrics by Gulzar. Masoom fetched several Filmfare Awards.
