Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, the Hindi film starring actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead titular roles, and which released on Friday, has collected Rs 11.10 crore at the box office on its first day, the makers of the film announced on social media.

Helmed by Karan Johar, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani marks his comeback to director's chair after seven years. Although in-between, he directed shorts in Netflix anthologies Lust Stories and Ghost Stories, the last feature film helmed by him was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016).

The story and screenplay of the film are penned by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan, and Sumit Roy. The film follows the love story of Punjabi boy Rocky and Bengali girl Rani, who come from poles opposite school of thought and family background. As they fall in love with each other, they decide to live in each other’s house to know their families better.

The film also features Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Dharmendra, among others. The film opened to largely positive reception.
