On Thursday, Samantha took to her Instagram stories to announce that she has wrapped filming for her upcoming web series alongside Varun Dhawan, Citadel. Sharing a selfie, she wrote, "13th of July will always be a special day. And it's a wrap on Citadel India."

Citadel series is locally created, produced, and filmed in-region, forming a distinct global franchise. The first instalment in the franchise, starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, was recently released on Prime Video. It has been renewed for a second season, and the next instalment in the series is the Italian part, starring Matilda De Angelis, titled Citadel: Diana.

The Citadel India series is helmed by creator duo Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK), who are also the showrunners. The local instalment is written by Sita R Menon. 

Meanwhile, Samantha, who was last seen in Shaakuntalam, is awaiting the release of Kushi, which is all set to hit theatres on September 1. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film stars Vijay Deverakonda alongside Samantha. Samantha is reportedly set to take a break after the release of Citadel India and Kushi, to take treatment for her Myositis.
