The 2013 film Lootera marks acclaimed filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane's sophomore directorial venture. On Wednesday, as the film completes 10 years since its release, Motewane pens a note on his Instagram.

"The memories might blur with time, but they will never fade away. We will always cherish them and know that something very special happened back then. 10 years of Lootera," Motwane wrote.

Set in the era of the 1950s, Lootera tells the story of a young conman who poses as an archaeologist and the daughter of a Bengali zamindar. The film's second half is loosely based on author O. Henry's 1907 short story The Last Leaf. Lootera features an ensemble cast including Sonakshi Sinha, Ranveer Singh, Barun Chanda, Vikrant Massey, Arif Zakaria, Adil Hussain, Divya Dutta and Shirin Guha.

The film opened to critical acclaim upon release, despite the box office failure

Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap and Vikas Bahl, Lootera has music composed by Amit Trivedi and cinematography by Mahendra J. Shetty.
