After registering the biggest-ever opening for a Hindi film in India and worldwide, Pathaan has already entered the Rs 100 crore club on its domestic collections on the second day. As per a report in Box Office India, the film minted about Rs 70 crore nett on Thursday (Republic Day). The report also stated that exact figures could be even higher as various sectors in the south saw huge crowds pouring in on the second day of the film’s release.
Industry tracker Sacnilk, however, estimated the collections to be Rs 65-70 crore nett. As per Bollywood Hungama Pathaan made Rs 67-69 crore on Republic Day.
Trade analyst Komal Nahta shared the numbers from the three national multiplex chains (PVR, Inox and Cinepolis) on Twitter and claimed that on the second day, the film made Rs 32.40 crore only from these chains.
In comparison, YRF’s Thugs of Hindostan made Rs 29.25 crore on its second day of release, according to Bollywood Hungama, and the same studio’s War made Rs 24.35 crore on day two.
Pathaan marks the comeback of Shah Rukh Khan to the big screen after four years. The film also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. In his review of the film for Cinema Express, Shilajit Mitra writes, “Shah Rukh Khan swims solidly through all the chaos. He is enjoyable in the big action moments but it’s the smaller touches that really sell the performance.”
