Kangana Ranaut returns to Twitter

Kartik Bhardwaj

Kangana Ranaut is back on Twitter. The actor’s account was suspended from the micro-blogging website in May, 2021 for ‘repeated violation of Twitter rules'. The move came after the actor’s vitriolic comments on the post-poll violence in West Bengal, which sounded like a call to violence. Kangana’s tweet had sparked outrage and many had demanded action against her.

When Kangana’s account was reinstated on Tuesday, she posted, “Hello everyone, it’s nice to be back here.”

She also shared a behind-the-scenes video from her upcoming film Emergency and announced that the film’s shooting has been wrapped.

“And it’s a wrap! Emergency filming completed successfully. See you in cinemas on 20th October 2023,” she tweeted.

In 2021, Kangana had claimed that Twitter suspending her account was a racist move. In a statement to ANI, she said, “Twitter has only proved my point they’re Americans and by birth, a white person feels entitled to enslave a brown person, they want to tell you what to think, speak or do. I have many platforms I can use to raise my voice, including my own art in the form of cinema.” She added that “my heart goes out to the people of this nation who have been tortured, enslaved, and censored for thousands of years, and still, there is no end to the suffering.”

Kangana was last seen in the action thriller Dhaakad (2022). Besides Emergency, she has Tejas and Chandramukhi 2 (Tamil) in the offing.
