Actor Pooja Bhatt on Thursday reacted to a video of Bajrang Dal and VHP workers bashing up posters of Pathaan at a mall in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The attack was described as a 'protest' against the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer.
Pointing out the distinction between a 'protest' and a 'riot', Pooja tweeted, “Protest-An organised public demonstration of disapproval”(of some law, policy, idea,or state of affairs)
Riot-A disturbance of the peace created by an assemblage of people acting with a common purpose & in a violent/tumultuous manner to the terror of the public.”
Raees director Rahul Dholakia also reacted to the incident by terming it 'vandalism' and 'hooliganism'.
"This is not “protesting” it's called vandalism & hooliganism!” Rahul wrote.
Pathaan, an upcoming spy actioner, is facing heated backlash since last month after the song 'Besharam Rang' depicted Deepika Padukone in a sultry orange outfit. The song was accused of hurting religious sentiments. SRK and Deepika's effigies were earlier burned in Indore, followed by similar protests elsewhere. BJP ministers like Narottam Mishra and Ram Kadam also threatened to ban the film in their respective states.
According to recent reports, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted the film a U/A certificate after more than 10 cuts. It is set to release in theatres on January 25.
