Deepika Padukone’s first poster from Project K released, fans ask ‘Is this Dune?’

CE Features

On the occasion of Deepika Padukone’s birthday, the makers of her upcoming film Project K shared the first poster of the actor from the film.

The poster shows Padukone’s silhouette against the sun. Just in orange and brown, it shows the actor standing, presumably, on top of a mountain. Project K, which has been simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi, marks Padukone’s Telugu film debut and also her first movie with Prabhas.

Fans, however, compared the poster to the 2021 Hollywood film Dune, directed by Denis Villineuve, starring Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya. "Man, this is giving vibes like Dune,” a person also commented. "Am I the only one seeing Zendaya from Dune in this poster?" said another. A few other comments simply read, "Dune?"

Dune is based on a 1965 novel by the same name authored by Frank Herbert. It is set in a distant future and is about an inhospitable desert planet Arrakis and how Paul Atreides (Chalamet) and his family are thrust into a war for the planet. As per previous reports, Project K is also set in a futuristic world and deals with the aftermath of war. The film is directed by Nag Ashwin and is expected to hit theatres in 2023.
