We earlier reported that Trial By Fire, a series based on the Uphaar Cinema fire in the 90s, will stream on Netflix from January 13.

The latest update is that the trailer of the series will drop on Wednesday. Directed by Prashant Nair (Umrika, Tryst With Destiny), the series follows a heartbreaking yet resilient story of Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, who lost their kids in a tragic fire that took over Uphaar cinema, South Delhi. It will also reflect on the trials and tribulations in pursuit of justice.

On June 13, 1997, 59 people died, and over 100 were injured when a fire took over Uphaar Cinema in South Delhi during a screening of JP Dutta's Border. The victims later formed The Association of Victims of Uphaar Fire Tragedy, which pursued a landmark civil compensation case and won. The tragedy is recounted in the bestselling book, Trial by Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Uphaar Fire Tragedy by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy.

Trial By Fire stars Rajshri Deshpande, Abhay Deol, Rajesh Tailang, Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak, Shilpa Shukla and Shardul Bharadwaj. Trial By Fire is produced by Endemol Shine & House of Talkies.
