Samantha has not quit the Varun Dhawan-starrer Citadel and will begin shooting for the spy series this month. It is directed by Raj & DK.

Recently, amid reports of her ill health, it was claimed that Samantha is taking a 3-month break. Accordingly, she was rumoured to have exited the cast of Citadel, which marks her second collaboration with Raj & DK. Samantha revealed last year that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis.

However, according to a source close to the actor, "anything and everything written about her being replaced in Citadel is rubbish. She will begin the shoot in the second half of January." Citadel is a localised Indian spin-off of the Russo Brothers' global spy series. The mothership series originated from US stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Samantha had previously worked with Raj & DK on The Family Man season 2, which marked her Hindi series debut. The actor recently revealed the release date of her upcoming Telugu epic, Shaakuntalam. Varun Dhawan is making his series debut with Citadel. He was recently in the creature-feature Bhediya
