‘Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhein’ lyricist Dev Kohli passes away

He had worked with music directors like Anu Malik and Anand Raaj Anand

Veteran lyricist and poet Dev Kohli died in Mumbai today. He was 81.

The lyricist had penned songs for over 100 films like Maine Pyar KiyaBaazigarMusafir and Shoot Out At Lokhandwala. He was the man behind writing hit songs like ‘Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhein’ from Shah Rukh Khan starrer Baazigar and ‘O Saki Saki’ from Musafir featuring Sanjay Dutt.

As per a report in India Today, Dev Kohli's antim darshan will be held from 2 pm onwards at his home in Lokhandwala Complex, Mumbai. His last rites will be performed at 6 pm at Oshiwara Crematorium, Jogeshwari West, added the report.

Dev's close associates, Anand Raaj Anand, Anu Malik, Uttam Singh and others from the Bollywood fraternity will be present to pay their last respects.

The lyricist worked with many noted music directors like Shankar-Jaikishan and Vishal-Shekhar among others. He also wrote 'Geet Gaata Hoon Main' featured in the Rajkumar – Hema Malini starrer Lal Patthar (1971). It was his second film as a lyricist. Dev has churned out numerous hit songs, such as Maaye Ni Maaye.
