Akshay Kumar gets Indian citizenship, shares photo

Akshay Kumar is now an Indian citizen. He shared this update on Independence Day on his social media handles by posting the papers of his citizenship. The certificate mentions his name as Akshay Hariom Bhatia.

The actor, who was previously a citizen of Canada, took to X to share this update and said, "Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!" In the past, Akshay Kumar was subjected to criticism for holding Canadian citizenship. He applied for Indian citizenship in 2019, however, the process had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Akshay Kumar's recent release OMG 2 (Oh my God 2) is being received well in the theatres. The movie features Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in prominent roles. 

He has an untitled Soorarai Pottru remake on cards. He will also be seen in the action thriller film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan alongside Tiger Shroff which is all set to hit the theatres on the occasion of Eid 2024 in his kitty. Akshay will be reuniting with Riteish Deshmukh for the fifth instalment of his hit comedy franchise Housefull. He may also be seen in the highly anticipated Hera Pheri 3.
