Aamir Khan trolled for bank commercial, accused of mocking 'Hindu traditions'

CE Features

Boycott calls, incessant trolls, and social media flak are not new to Aamir Khan. After Laal Singh Chaddha became the victim of relentless social media attack, it is now the turn of his recent TV commercial to face the brunt of a similar attack by certain netizens since it allegedly hurts Hindu sentiments and traditions.

In the commercial for AU Small Finance, Aamir Khan and Kiara Advani play a newlywed couple. In a bid to break the gender stereotype and conservative traditions, the husband moves to his wife's house.

In a tweet, filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri wrote, "I just fail to understand since when Banks have become responsible for changing social & religious traditions? I think @aubankindia should do activism by changing the corrupt banking system. Aisi bakwaas karte hain fir kehte hain Hindus are trolling. Idiots," (sic)
